WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The sanitation supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation crew that disassembles, cleans and sanitized and reassembles the production facility and production equipment. Effectiveness results in production of consistent, wholesome, food safe products for our customers. The individual trains and ensures our sanitation work force performs these duties in a safe manner and in accordance to written sanitation program. He also ensures records are updated and documentation is maintained to support the HACCP Food Safety Program. The Sanitation Supervisor works in conjunction with our current sanitation program supplier, Hydrite Chemicals to obtain the technologically current and best fit chemicals and application techniques.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

  • Supervises the daily pre-cleaning, cleaning and sanitizing of the facility and production equipment after use, following established SOP’s, such that a wholesome, food safe production environment is maintained on a consistent basis.
  • Oversees all disassembly, cleaning and sanitation functions ensuring that the facility and equipment is cleaned and sanitized in a safe manner, following written SOP’s, to ensure a food safe production environment.
  • Documents and maintains orderly records of nightly audits of the Master Sanitation Plan.
  • Ensures appropriate records and documentation are maintained regarding the HACCP Food Safety Program in conjunction with Hydrite Chemicals.
  • Responsible for upkeep and implementation of the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • In conjunction with Hydrite Chemicals, conducts new employee training and annual employee training.
  • Updates chemical safety, sanitation procedures and new equipment cleanings SOP’s.
  • Ensures cleaning chemicals are locked and secure after use as part of our Bio-Security Program.
  • Ensures building remains secure during and after the nightly sanitation process.
  • Ensures post cleaning and sanitizing of equipment that has been upgraded or repaired is done and done correctly.
  • Communicates with maintenance on any and all equipment or building deviations noted during sanitation.
  • Works with Quality Assurance on corrective and preventative actions as a result of microbial testing results.
  • Stays abreast of current though and practice in food manufacturing, and manufacturing in general, through outside reading, networking, attendance at relevant seminars and the use of consultants.
  • Ensure facility and equipment meets WDA,FDA,USDA and HACCP sanitation standards.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High School Education or higher
  • Ability to Speak, Write and read in English.
  • 5+ Years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing, ideally dairy-related environment. 3+ years’ experience supervising and managing a sanitation crew.
  • Understands chemical application and chemistry of cleaning and sanitation chemicals.
  • Mechanical ability and familiar with tool use for equipment disassembly and reassembly.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 60 pounds. Employees must be able to perform repetitive motions and safely operate equipment while following all safety and quality procedures.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a food manufacturing facility with variable temperatures — cooler warehouse areas and warmer production zones. The environment includes exposure to moving equipment, moderate to loud noise levels, and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and hairnets.
