Position Summary 

The Maintenance Technician will ensure production equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently. You must be highly motivated and able to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. We are seeking highly organized and detail-oriented candidates, with strong multitasking and time-management skills.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 5 am - 1 pm, rotating weekends as required. 

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Troubleshoot facility and processing equipment in a timely manner to reduce mechanical down time
  • Setup and teardown of facility and processing equipment to prepare for repair, replacement, or PM’s
  • Record daily time worked on equipment and other logbooks paperwork (redzone)
  • Manage the work order and PM backlog. Assist with determining replacement parts needed for repairs
  • Confer and work with outside vendors for facility and/or equipment repair
  • Operate special maintenance equipment like welders, grinder, ohm meters and predictive maintenance tools, etc.
  • Build and fabricate special mechanical parts and devices
  • Program AC drives, chart recorders, pressure sensors, and flow meters for control of motor at specific rates
  • Calibrate scales, pressure and temperature sensors and related equipment to keep accurate readings
  • Write and monitor guide on equipment such as SOP, PM schedule, and training procedures to keep equipment running properly and efficiently using Microsoft programs
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and the ability to train other craftsmen on how to properly utilize the predictive testing equipment such as; Infrared Camera, Meg Ohm Meter, etc.
  • Analyze source(s) of problems to determine root cause of problem and diagnose repeat breakdowns or malfunctions
  • Work cross functionally and get input from all departments to diagnose problems with production and/or quality
  • Assist with coordination of special projects to reduce costs, ensure safety, and enhance quality
  • Understand and follow procedures for DNR/USDA/FDA/SQF/BRC/OSHA
  • Troubleshoot plant utility systems, such as boilers, refrigeration engine room, HVAC, and heat pumps to reduce mechanical down time
  • Understand normal operating conditions and ability to identify when systems are running outside of ideal operating settings
  • Field off shift calls and assist in troubleshooting utility related concerns, understanding a return to the plant may be requested by upper management.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-year certificate from college or a technical school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Read and understand electrical and mechanical prints.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical apparatus such as transformers, wires, etc.
  • Strong Math Skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and CMMS
  • Strong electrical concepts (demonstrated knowledge of control wiring, programming and operation of various control panels, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge (drive systems & alignment, seal replacements, etc.)
  • Strong pneumatic & hydraulic knowledge (replace and repair; check valves; filter assembly, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools
  • Obtain valid company-issued forklift license
  • Basic counting and math skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain confidentiality
