WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

 

The Supply Chain Manager role is essential for ensuring efficient market demand fulfillment through strategic supply and production planning. This position bridges demand planning with production, securing a precise match between market needs and site output. It encompasses comprehensive supply chain management, from raw material acquisition to finished goods dispatch, emphasizing on-time, quality deliveries. The manager optimally maintains inventory levels, oversees accurate data reporting, and spearheads efficiency projects in production and logistics. A significant aspect of the role involves developing a strategic warehouse plan and leading continuity efforts, underpinning robust operations. Central to their responsibilities is fostering a team culture focused on performance, safety, and quality, alongside nurturing supplier relationships. By driving team engagement and efficiency, the Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in enhancing the organization's competitive edge and operational resilience.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

  • Work closely with demand Planning & production to ensure there is a clear understanding of market requirements from the site.
  • Management of the End-to-End Supply planning for the site and ensure that the site delivers capacity requirements based on smart and effective production planning and scheduling.
  • Management of Raw Material Supply (incl. Cream + Raw Materials), Packaging & Dispatch of Finished Goods – On Time In Full & Right First Time.
  • Management of Stock / Inventory levels on site based on agreed metrics.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of Plant Wide data metrics relating to supply from ERP / MES.
  • Manage the accurate reporting of Raw Material/Packaging consumption and yield of processing of ingredients through the plant.
  • Lead the Supply Planning Team to ensure all KPIs are met
  • Creation   and delivery of department budget in line with plan
  • Lead projects to drive efficiencies around production, materials, and logistic/warehouse management. 
  • Develop warehouse strategy to ensure optimum use of available space and material flows in and out of the site.
  • Lead Business Continuity plan regarding supply of materials and capacity for the plant.
  • Develop and coach the local Supply chain team with a focus on performance, collaboration, and cross functional teamwork
  • Key focus on development of the team to ensure that robust and succession plans are in place for critical positions.
  • Lead and drive engagement of the team
  • Build solid relationships with Materials suppliers
  • Drive a culture that promotes and maintains a safe and healthy workplace for employees, ensuring that all Health & Safety procedures and legislative requirements are adhered to. 
  • Drive a culture of Quality to ensure all standards are adhered to.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree/Masters in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Management Systems or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in Supply Planning role
  • Experience of successfully leading a team
  • Background in FMCG with experience of all aspects of the End-to-End Supply Planning, ideally dairy however food, beverage, pharma or other process industries will be considered.
  • Exposure to and experience of lean principles and methodologies
  • The ability to positively contribute to strategic business decision-making
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills.
  • IT literate with strong Word, Excel and database skills.
  • Problem solver, disciplined in collecting information, ascertaining root cause of issues and Identifying and developing practical solutions.
