Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Forto and BEO. Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and the US.

 

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world. Ornua Ingredients is also responsible for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.

Job description:

 

The site production manager is a lead management role in Kerrygold park. The successful candidate we be part of the site operations management team, and will be responsible to lead, drive and manage performance of the site production facility, which consist of 3 cells (Process/packaging & warehouse). The successful candidate must be able to identify and implement key improvements while ensuring consistency of approach, champion operational standards across the site and promote team development to achieve site objectives. They will work closely with internal stakeholders (site operations management team) to support identifying and maximising the site potential opportunities to support future growth.  

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 

  • Responsible areas include production, process, packaging & internal warehouse.
  • Develop production plans/targets to meet business objectives taking appropriate and timely corrective action where negative trends begin to emerge. Targets included, OEE, waste(yield), FTR, safety, productivity (cost reduction), inventory status, OTIF and employee engagement.
  • Ensure full compliance with technical and food hygiene standards to ensure product meets all appropriate quality and H&S safety standards.
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the assigned members of the production functions to ensure the achievement of performance.
  • Ensure that all operation team members adhere to all policies, procedures, roles and regulations.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements in methods and processes to increase productivity and quality.
  • Ensure superior plant housekeeping/GMP standards.
  • Partner with HR Business Partner to create and maintain a formal Human Capital Plan for the facility, including a facility succession plan.
  • Responsible for introducing and managing world-class manufacturing methods (i.e. through lean, Kanban, 6-Sigma, TQC, Robotics) to raise manufacturing efficiencies and overall product and process quality.
  • Drive a culture and environment of continuous change and improvement
  • Control all production costs that directly affect the site performance and operate within productions budget requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver annual operational budgets (headcount, expense and capital) and delivering savings through cost saving initiatives.
  • Promote & Engage Lean Manufacturing & Visual Management concepts within the business and continuously drive performance improvement. 
  • Provide Leadership direction to team on problem solving and process improvements and streamlining the work process.
  • Drive training & development across the team to ensure the business has skills and succession for the future.
  • Maximise positive employee engagement while maintaining a strong focus on individual/ team performance and accountability. 
  • Provide development and coaching to team to maximise team’s performance and potential.
  • Actively promote company Values and Behaviours.
  • Identify ways to better develop and support a sustainability culture at site level

 

 

Candidate profile:

 

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing environment within the food industry. He/she will have a proven track record of delivering operations goals in a regulated industry.

 

You will be a pro-active, analytical self-starter, confident in your decision-making abilities. A dynamic, flexible person, you must be a good communicator with strong inter-personal skills and possess the ability to deal with a fast-paced environment and embrace change. A logical and organised approach to continuous improvement is essential.

 

 

Key Requirements & Attributes:

 

  • Strong Leadership skills and can demonstrate success in managing change, developing the team, and managing performance.
  • Competent in preparing business strategies and implementing action plans.
  • At least 5-7 years in a manufacturing environment with 3 to 5 years of which should be at Senior Management level.
  • Capable of building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to manage and manipulate performance data, utilising it to drive future improvement
  • Ambitious and results driven.
  • Must be a high energy and responsive individual.
  • 3rd level qualification or relevant industry experience.
