Job Title: Skilled Production Operative

Reports to: Shift Manager

Location: Ornua Ingredients, Ledbury HR8 2JQ

Hours: Monday to Friday 2pm – 10pm (Fixed Afternoon Shift) 

Salary: Starting from £12.55  

 

A Day in The Life of a Skilled Production Operative


You will work within the team of Machine Operatives in high care environment, undertaking activities including dismantling, rebuilding and operating of production plant and equipment and surrounding areas to achieve standards of excellence in line with food hygiene requirements to support delivery of audits and accreditations. Your areas of responsibility include:

  

  • To set up machines, control change of settings and changeovers.
  • Adhere to production schedule/plan as directed by shift manager and following our internal system (M3). 
  • Responsible for setting up product print according to the manufacturing specification.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Including, always wearing appropriate safety protection.
  • Promptly report all accidents and health & safety failings in the workplace.
  • To work in accordance with written work instructions in order achieve daily production plans.
  • Carry out all production-related tasks in a manner that produces consistently high-quality finished goods.
  • Report any issues that pose as a risk to food safety.
  • Recommend improvements to the Shift Production Manager and if accepted implement them accordingly.
  • Ensure that all operational documentation is completed accurately and promptly on our internal system that measures performance (Redzone).
  • Perform to meet departmental goals and quality targets. 
  • Provide quality products and services that meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain processes within pre-determined limits and monitor non-conformance. 
  • Possess a proactive mindset to assist on the continuous improvement of processes and techniques, while also identifying and eliminating problems.
  • Undertake relevant training as required.

  • Essential - Experience of working in a production environment, this includes setting up and operating production lines.
  • Reliability, self-motivation, drive and commitment are essential to enable you to work effectively as a team member as well as on your own.
  • Flexible and resilient as you may need to undertake additional tasks as directed by your manager.
  • Be a strong and effective communicator.
  • Adopt a high personal and professional standard.
  • Computer literate.
