To drive Operational Excellence to achieve Operational KPIs.  To embed well defined processes for Quality, Safety and Cost - integral to site operational efficiency, stability and simplicity. To meet and exceed Customer Service Delivery. To drive a performance focussed, committed, and engaged workforce.

Key Areas of Responsibility:


  • Drive H&S standards and adherence, and champion improvement initiatives to include Risk assessments
  • Optimise plan and resource utilisation (absenteeism, overtime, return to works)
  • People development, training, discipline, grievance, absence management and performance management
  • Adherence to SOPs and associated best practice for production, hygiene and safety
  • Adherence to Product Quality – applying RFT (Right First Time) principles
  • Champion of Continuous Improvement through the application of modern CI tools and techniques and the close out of Non-Conformances to drive people accountabilities for resolution
  • Drive GMP standards to targeted levels and champion supporting initiatives
  • Own operational KPI’s (OTIF, PA. Waste, labour, OEE, top loss reviews), including SIC (short interval control) reviews, escalation procedure and reporting. 
  • Ensure site readiness for compliance and audit requirements (ISO, HSE, BRC, GMP)
  • Attend H&S meetings
  • Chair daily operations meetings
  • Design, deliver and embed local team briefings as an ongoing process for communication
  • Conduct 1:1 people development review in line with agreed timetable
  • Champion team awareness of the business values
  • Champion site project charters and change initiatives
  • Customer complaints – investigates and submits responses including root cause, preventative and corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Flexible to cover / deputise for other management roles, within incumbent’s capability

Key requirements


  • Qualified in a managerial/supervisory discipline (NVQ Supervisory Level, NEBSM, Institute of Management, etc)
  • Educated to good GCSE level or relevant work experience
  • Food Hygiene Level 3 (preferred not essential)
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate Understanding CI philosophies
  • Understanding of Cross Departments Disciplines (Quality/Technical/Engineering/Warehouse)
  • Knowledge of appropriate production processes
  • Knowledge of appropriate equipment / machinery
  • Team / people management and leadership
  • Project Management
  • Computer Literacy in Microsoft office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, in-house business systems
  • Experience of working within a FMCG/food production environment
  • Good working knowledge of food production associated processes and capabilities
  • Health, Safety, Food Hygiene & Environment Awareness Knowledge
