Production Team Lead (1st Shift)

Team Lead Job Description

The Production Team Leader is directly responsible for directing the activities of the Production personnel in their daily responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, producing safe and quality products while maintaining least cost manufacturing. The Team Leader ensures that customer orders are translated into finished goods by trained employees.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Perform preoperational inspection on equipment. Clears equipment for operation 
• Set up equipment and supplies for manufacturing line 
• Distribute cheese to employees that are working on the lines and write down cheese codes and weights on formula sheets 
• Notifies appropriate Warehouse personnel when replacement cheese or other ingredients are needed 
• Facilitates employees concerns/disputes and refers and reports them to Production Supervisor, as appropriate 
• Coordinates removal of previous ingredients and replaces with the ingredients needed for the next order on the production run 
• Creates a list of all cheese, seasonings and ingredients that run out during each days run for inventory records.  Submits the list to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and Accounting Assistant (Accounts Payable/Inventory Specialist)  
• Assists with hopper scrape-down at the end of orders (when not setting up changeovers) 
• Generates the list of emulsifiers and other ingredients that are used by the powder person for next days run 
• Coordinates with the Production Supervisor to set up employee job positions for next days run (after the production schedule is received) 
• Reviews daily manufacturing records to check for potential mistakes or misprints of the ingredient lot numbers that were used 
• Helps with equipment malfunctions if needed.  Works with maintenance during equipment malfunction 
• Fills in on the line for employee breaks for absences 

Required Skills and Abilities:  

• 2+ years of experience in a Cheese Manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required

• The lead must be able to do multiple tasks at the same time.   
• Complete all necessary cleaning and workplace sanitation requirements.  
• Perform all tasks in a busy environment with limited supervision.  
• Record production information in a tablet, computer or by hand.  
• Attend all required company training. 
• Flexible to support work in all areas as needed.  
• Perform duties following all good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) including food, equipment, and operating safety requirements.  
   

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in Food and Beverage industry preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
