Production Team Lead Job Description

 

Ornua Ingredients North America custom formulates and manufactures a complete line of pasteurized process cheese products. We are looking for an energetic, fast-paced, hardworking and reliable employee to join our Dice/Shred team!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the proper manufacturing of the finished product. 
  • Ensure correct product is used for each order, includes bulk product, powders, and film.
  • Must check to make sure correct number of bulk blocks are brought in by checking pick slip) mixing the correct batch. 
  • Basic record keeping, as well as keeping track of inventory of both brought in and finished product.
  • Communicate with team where ends of orders are and with warehouse/QA personnel as needed.
  • The lead is required to clean equipment and surrounding area and ensures that the cleaning is done correctly and completely.  
  • Manage your crew, ensuring that your team members are taking breaks and adhering to all policies and procedures. 
  • Crew leads may also provide written and/or verbal disciplinary action as needed, under the guidance of the shift supervisor.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:  

  • Package finished product including box making, lining, filling, closing, and palletizing, and other duties as required.
  • Inspect cheese products, packing and boxes for damage, report deficiencies to proper parties.  
  • The lead must be able to operate bagger and scales as well as setup and changeovers of the dicer and shredder.
  • He/she must be familiar with the cheese making process and the impact of any deviation from the set process conditions. 
  • The lead must be able to do multiple tasks at the same time.   
  • Complete all necessary cleaning and workplace sanitation requirements.  
  • Perform all tasks in a busy environment with limited supervision.  
  • Record production information in a tablet, computer or by hand.  
  • Attend all required company training. 
  • Flexible to support work in all areas as needed.  
  • Perform duties following all good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) including food, equipment, and operating safety requirements.  

 

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds consistently. 
  • Stand for extended periods of time.  
  • Vision including that ability to read, distance vision and peripheral.
