Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is the individual directly responsible for daily staffing (scheduling and management) of the Production and Packaging rooms. The Production Supervisor ensures that the site’s operating equipment is running properly to produce food safe, least cost, high quality products in a safe manufacturing environment (advising maintenance of any concerns). It is also the shared responsibility of this individual to ensure that production workers are trained and observing safe working practices. This individual translates our weekly production schedule at the floor level, ensuring the right products are produced and properly labeled and produced in the right quantities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Create daily plan for where individuals are stationed in the Production and Packaging process. Personally train and oversee other training to ensure compliance to site’s Safety practices, GMPs and departmental SOPs

Approve and keep track of Production and Packaging employee vacation schedules

Implement/translate daily production schedule at the floor level, ensuring that it is met in terms of formula translation and number of required batches

Ensure finished product is properly labeled per customer requirements

Make sure all necessary raw materials are available and properly staged for efficient production of the daily production schedule. Work with Warehouse personnel for inventory

Translate OINA’s food quality and food safety procedures, policies and protocols, including HACCP, onto the Production and Packaging floors. Create and update training materials to assist in same. Complete the necessary record keeping and documentation encompassed with all programs

Problem solves any people or equipment related issues on production and packaging floors as they occur. Document problem issues as they occur via written report and/or photography and works to resolve issues with the Operations Manager

Ensure planned filter changes take place. Adjust weights on bulk fillers as needed.

Assist in necessary scrape downs for product changeovers

Determine when daily breaks are to occur in Production and Packaging rooms

Ensure equipment is ready for end of day sanitation procedures

Take daily attendance and reports temp workers, absences, vacations, and early quits to receptionist via email

Generate documentation for use on the Productions/Packaging lines (“End of Lot” sheet for the following day’s Production, using schedules provided by the Production Scheduler)

Help the Operations Manager in ensuring facility meets WDA, FDA and USDA requirements

Track absenteeism, time-keeping, and safety violations

Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment

Oversee departmental training for Production and Packaging employees

Document employee training and maintains training records

Conduct/assist with semi-annual employee reviews; reviews department JSAs with Production and Packaging employees

Research and/or initiate continual education training for Production and Packaging employees

Observe employees for adherence to site’s Safety Practices

Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary

Ensure effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolutions.

Ensure that all company policies and procedures relating to product quality, food safety, health and safety and legality, are adhered to at all times

Report any issues that could compromise food safety
Education and Experience:
-
High school education or higher
-
7 years of manufacturing experience, supervising a production work force, with food companies, and ideally cheese companies.

Excellent people skills.

Excellent verbal, analytical and organizational skills

Ability to multi task effectively

Knowledge of production equipment design (sanitary design knowledge a plus)

Knowledge of using computer programs, including Word and Excel.

HACCP/Good Manufacturing Practice knowledge and understanding a must
