Job Summary:
The Inventory Accountant provides support and data analytics to Warehouse, Production, and Commercial Groups. This individual will focus on maintaining accurate inventory and production data. The position’s responsibilities include providing findings and recommendations supporting accurate product costing standards used in valuing inventory and in pricing decisions directly impacting the Company’s margins and profits. This person will be directly involved in reviewing inventory adjustments for accuracy and in the final dispositions affecting KPIs used in incentive payment calculations for Warehouse and Production personnel.
This person will work independently with minimal supervision performing a variety of analyzing and reporting tasks. This role requires strong follow-through on information requested as well as strong communication, organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills. This role requires a person with a positive attitude that is responsive to internal customers while working collectively with numerous internal departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily entry of Work Orders into ERP System to record production activity in an accurate and timely manner
- Provide notes and insights on the day’s production to explain good/poor variances
- Understand product costing:
- understanding manufacturing activities and associated costs
- establishing and maintaining inventory costing standards and associated models
- Enter daily inventory adjustments as required to maintain inventory balances
- Keep track of and investigate large inventory variances/adjustments
- Support inventory accuracy reviews and reporting
- Support of inventory obsolescence reviews and reporting
- Supporting warehouse group with physical and perpetual inventory counts
- Assisting with resolution of inventory related system transactional issues
- Reconcile Inventory & Production Subledgers to the General Ledger
- Prepare monthly 3PL Warehouse reconciliation schedules comparing external, 3PL listings to the ERP Inventory Subledger listings, and support the Warehouse Group’s isolation and correction of all variances
- Assisting with period end closes activities around inventory
- Maintenance of inventory and production related master data along with the associated SOPs
- Maintain internal control and process flow documentation, and ensure adherence
- Assist in pulling transactional data for internal and external audits
- Various production reporting and analysis
- Ability to work extra hours during period and year end closing, also during audits as needed
- Other duties as assigned based on business needs

Education and Experience:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Preferred 1 - 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Power BI experience would be a plus
- Experience using ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics) as it relates to inventory and production
