Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Kerrygold, Avantage, Forto, and BEO.  Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world.  Ornua Ingredients is also responsible for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.


Ornua Foods North America is based in Evanston, Illinois and we market and sell Kerrygold butter and cheese in the North American market.   We are the number two butter brand in the US and number one in the specialty cheese market.

Role Summary:


The Category Analyst will support the Ornua Foods North America Category team with analysis and reporting throughout the year. This position will also work independently with several data sources, including use of IRI POS and Panel databases and 84.51/Stratum Kroger Loyalty Card Data, to support the category insights team in customer focused Kerrygold butter/cheese category reviews and special category focused projects. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint, and experience working with syndicated data, IRI, Nielsen, Loyalty Card data and Panel.


Key Areas of Responsibility:


  • Opportunity to develop Ornua’s processes to effectively analyze assortment, sales, promotions and pricing in the butter and cheese categories in order to develop actionable recommendations. 
  • Understand the markets and brands within which Ornua Foods North America operates and use this knowledge to provide analysis and recommendations on distribution, assortment, pricing, merchandising and shelving. 
  • Work closely with Senior Category Managers to build category focused customer presentations for retailer partners.
  • Lead analysis of pricing, elasticity and promotion effectiveness.
  • Build/optimize regular reporting (monthly, quarterly) for total business and critical segments (butter, cheese); additional reporting as necessary without being given specific direction. 
  • Work with Global Brand Team based in Ireland and deliver periodic updates on yearly KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) upon which the company measures annual success. 


Key Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required (business/marketing/communications)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data analysis and/or category management in the CPG industry.
  • Experienced in the use of Nielsen and/or IRI analytical tools.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to articulate data concepts to non-expert audience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to deliver actionable insight; the ability to quickly analyze and interpret data from syndicated sources
  • Able to develop and articulate clear, organized assumptions as part of data analysis.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and to work in a high-performance environment, meet tight deadlines and deliver error-free work.
  • Sales experience through working in a sales role or working closely with a sales team highly desired.
  • Experience solving problems independently and able to prioritize requests and deliver projects or request on time.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
