The Group is structured across two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients.

Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Kerrygold, Avantage, Forto, and BEO.  Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world.  Ornua Ingredients is also responsible for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.

The Role

The Senior Commercial Manager will play a key Role in delivering the traded divisions physical trading strategies. 

Key areas of responsibility include:


  • To lead the physical sales team and strategy for the traded division.
  • To manage the sourcing and trading strategy for European diary commodities to deliver budgeted volumes. 
  • Grow the traded divisions’ supplier and customer base in the EU.
  • Oversee reporting of physical traded positions, physical and financial (index linked agreements). Drive adoption of index linked agreements with customer base.  
  • Daily contact with supply and customer base to leverage information and bring market insights to the analysis team. Feed into divisions position and market outlook.
  • Promote traded division sourcing and risk capabilities within Ornua Group, to feed into procurement strategy. 
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify risk’s and execute trade’s while ensuring trades are communicated to the treasury and finance teams. 
  • Ad-hoc analysis and further understanding of key dairy exchanges/markets. 
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure on time shipping across the product range. 



  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a sales / trading environment
  • Demonstrated track record of leading a team and developing a trading portfolio.
  • Self-starter, with ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Strong communication, team working and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of derivative markets a distinct advantage.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel, power point.
  • A knowledge of the global agri-food sector an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, approx. 15-20%.
