WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE:
The Reliability Manager is a critical role in delivering Ornua’s ambition of world-class asset care and capital excellence across our international manufacturing network. Operating at the intersection of engineering, operations, and strategic investment, this role ensures that our assets consistently perform at their optimum — safely, efficiently, and reliably — supporting the delivery of high-quality dairy products to customers worldwide.
Aligned to Ornua’s Asset Care and Capex strategy, this position plays a key role in embedding a proactive, reliability-led culture across all sites. By standardising best practices, strengthening maintenance and reliability capability, and leveraging data-driven insights, the Global Reliability Manager will drive a step-change in how we manage, maintain, and optimise our assets.
This role is instrumental in maximising the return on capital investments — ensuring that new and existing assets deliver their full lifecycle value, from design through to operation. It directly contributes to improved asset uptime, reduced cost of maintenance, increased production stability, and enhanced product quality.
Beyond technical delivery, the role offers significant influence at a global level — working with senior stakeholders to shape strategy, drive continuous improvement, and build organisational capability. It presents a unique opportunity to lead transformation, implement modern reliability practices, and embed a future-focused approach that includes predictive maintenance, digitalisation, and performance analytics.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Global Reliability Strategy & Standards
- Develop and implement Ornua’s global reliability strategy aligned with the Asset Care and Capex roadmap
- Define, standardise, and govern reliability and maintenance best practices across all manufacturing sites
- Establish a consistent framework covering preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance
- Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and criticality-based asset strategies
Asset Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives to improve asset uptime, reduce unplanned downtime, and optimise overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Analyse asset performance data to identify systemic losses, recurring failures, and improvement opportunities
- Champion root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure structured problem-solving is embedded across sites
- Track and drive improvement against key reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, downtime, maintenance cost)
Capex Integration & Lifecycle Value
- Partner with Capex and project teams to ensure reliability is embedded in the design, specification, and commissioning of new assets
- Drive a “design for reliability and maintainability” approach across all capital projects
- Ensure robust handover processes from project delivery into operations, including asset strategies and documentation
- Maximise lifecycle value of assets, ensuring capital investments deliver expected performance and ROI
Digitalisation & Predictive Maintenance
- Lead the adoption of predictive maintenance technologies and data-driven reliability practices
- Define requirements for condition monitoring, asset data, and analytics platforms
- Collaborate with digital and IT teams to enable real-time performance visibility and insights
- Drive the transition from reactive to predictive and prescriptive maintenance models
Capability Building & Culture
- Build reliability capability across the organisation through coaching, training, and mentoring
- Develop and upskill site engineering and maintenance teams in best-in-class reliability practices
- Promote a proactive asset care culture, shifting behaviours from “fixing failures” to “preventing failures”
- Support the development of reliability career pathways and competencies
Governance, Compliance & Best Practice
- Establish governance frameworks to ensure consistent application of reliability standards globally
- Conduct site audits and maturity assessments to benchmark performance and identify gaps
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in all reliability practices
- Share best practices and lessons learned across the network
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
- Partner with regional leadership, operations, and engineering teams to align reliability priorities
- Influence senior stakeholders to prioritise reliability as a key driver of business performance
- Act as a central point of expertise for reliability across Ornua
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive operational excellence and asset performance
Performance Management & Reporting
- Define and track global reliability KPIs and performance dashboards
- Provide regular insights to leadership on asset health, risks, and improvement initiatives
- Use data to drive decision-making and prioritisation of reliability investments
- Ensure measurable value delivery from all reliability initiatives
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Experience & Expertise
- 7+ years in Reliability Engineering, overseeing multiple sites regionally or globally
- Significant experience in Reliability, maintenance, or asset management within a complex manufacturing environment (FMCG, food/dairy, or similar process industries preferred)
- Proven track record of developing and deploying reliability strategies across multiple sites or regions
- Strong experience in driving improvements in asset performance, uptime, and maintenance efficiency
- Demonstrated success in implementing structured methodologies such as RCM, TPM, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to link asset performance to business outcomes, including cost, quality, service, and capital efficiency
- Experience integrating reliability into capital projects, including design, specification, and commissioning phases
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management and delivering return on capital investments
- Data-driven mindset, with experience using KPIs and analytics to inform decision-making and prioritisation
- Knowledge of emerging trends in smart maintenance, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation
Qualifications
