Regulatory & Trade Intern (graduate) – 6 month fixed term contract

Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands, including Ireland’s most successful food export, Kerrygold, as well as Kerrygold Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Avantage, Forto and BEO milk powders. 

  

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world, and for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies.

about this role 

 

Ornua is offering a 6-month internship opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated graduate to join our Regulatory and Trade Compliance team. This internship will provide hands-on experience in horizon scanning, navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring regulatory compliance across a range of areas from food law and product labelling to trade.  

 

The incumbent will work under the supervision and guidance of the Regulatory and Trade Compliance team and gain insights into corporate regulatory and trade compliance.  On completion (s)he will have: 

  • Gained an understanding of regulatory and trade compliance processes and practices 

  • Developed research and analytical skills applicable to a broad range of industries 

  • Enhanced their communication and collaboration skills 

  • Built a strong foundation for a future career in compliance, law and business 

 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility (under supervision): 
 

  1. Information Management and Horizon Scanning: 

  • Daily monitoring and horizon scanning and uploading of relevant information items to Ornua’s Information Portal. 

  • Management of the Regulatory Dublin shared email account and SharePoint information database. 

  • Assisting in the preparation of meeting updates, training and guidance documents, and drafting updates on regulatory topics for internal circulation. 

 

  1. Trade Monitoring and Tariff Classification Support 

  • Support in gathering information on trade negotiations, agreements and tariff schedules.  

  • Collating information for tariff classification reviews  

  • Assisting with recurring trade and project compliance work 

 

  1. Labelling & Claims Support  

  • Assisting the team with labelling compliance work for third country markets and innovation and NPD projects 

 

  1. Registration and Compliance Reporting 

  • Assisting the team with mandatory registration and compliance obligations in such areas as BRC, FDA plant registrations, export licences and export certification requirements. 

 

  1. Project & Meeting Support 

  • Providing support, through information compilation for cross functional projects such as packaging, innovation, certification and trade, summarising key takeaways.  

  • Attending internal/external meetings and webinars and summarising key takeaways. 

  • Input into the annual members’ votes exercise for the 2026 AGM and providing on support to other projects as they arise.

Other desired requirements are: 

  • Currently pursuing a third level primary degree in Law, Business, Food Science, International Relations, or a related field. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated research and analytical abilities (e.g. through coursework, projects, or extracurriculars). 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, SharePoint). 

  • Interest in regulatory affairs, trade policy, or food law.
