Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers.
Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.
It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
Job Summary:
The Member Relations & Planning team is responsible for the demand planning, supply planning and procurement of all dairy products for onward sale by the Ornua Commercial Division serviced from Ornua headquarters.
The Member Relations & Planning section’s goal is to support our businesses to meet customers’ needs through developing strong knowledge-based relationships with internal and external stakeholders. We aim to maximize value through efficient forecasting, planning, purchasing, and business processes.
This Procurement Category Coordinator role will manage and support the purchasing of dairy products (butter & milk powders) from our suppliers (the Irish Dairy Processors) and the planning of supply & demand within our business.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Purchasing of relevant powder categories:

To manage the commercial purchasing process for relevant powders with members.

Define ingredient sales availability (monthly) for relevant powders and provide input to commercial strategy, sales & pricing tactics with sales teams to maximize member returns & Ornua profitability, and ensure volume targets are achieved and risks managed.

Manage planning to ensure stable supply and relevant pricing for key customers

Key link between Ornua ingredient sales teams and members; providing regular market, customer & commercial insights and updates as appropriate. Schedule and attend regular member meetings and attend customer meetings as necessary with sales teams.

Negotiate back-to-back purchases with members for powder.

Putting in place monthly production plans in line with Ornua’s overall forecasting process.

Regular communication with finance teams on powder – input to the monthly P+L, settlements and forward book processes.

Measure, report and follow-up on production vs forecasted monthly production forecast. Highlighting surpluses and deficits and amending forward schedules as appropriate.

A key stakeholder in the overall Ornua S&OP process. Take part in the monthly forecast cycle to ensure product is planned and purchased in line with best information at hand from demand planning and sales teams, advise of risks, and identify actions to mitigate impact on customer orders.

To ensure that offline powder is managed and updated on a monthly basis – with a focus on cost reduction and efficiency.

To provide support associated with the purchase and management of dairy products including the raising, communicating and maintaining of relevant purchase orders, stock reclassifications, maintaining relevant management information records and preparing analysis and reports as required (Rabo).
stock management:

Analyse monthly stock reconciliation and availability status for all relevant powders in conjunction with partner teams. Make recommendations based on same.

To manage Ornua Ingredients stock in line with best practice.

Ensure stock is reserved where appropriate, highlight where stock should be shipped on a FIFO basis and ensure that problem / aged stock is identified and managed as appropriate.

Ensure Ornua achieve monthly and year end closing stock targets for relevant categories.
