Ornua is a dairy co-operative which sells dairy products on behalf of its Member Co-ops; Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers. It is Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products, exporting to 110 countries worldwide. Headquartered in Dublin, it has annualised sales of over €2.3 billion and a global team of 2,400 employees. Ornua operates from 10 business units worldwide, including 13 production facilities, and has sales and marketing teams working in-market across all four corners of the globe.


The Group is structured across two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients.


Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Forto and BEO. Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and the US.


Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world. Ornua Ingredients is also responsible for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.

The Role:

An exciting new permanent opportunity has been created to support the Growth team’s finance and project management activities.  The Corporate Financial Analyst will have responsibility and accountability for the following areas:


Growth Team projects and M&A:


  • Provide financial support for Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestment projects as assigned  
  • Deliver project management support for all workstreams during a transaction (Financial, Legal, Commercial, Operations)
  • Contribute to financial due diligence on transactions
  • Assist with deal structures on transactions
  • Support team members with the management of the deal flow pipeline
  • Preparation of financial models and business plans to support investment decision making
  • Use financial models to predict outcomes (DCF, IRR etc)
  • Assist with Growth Team budgeting cycle and reporting
  • Liaise with the strategic Growth team on assignments
  • Other ad-hoc tasks and special projects as requested


Capital Expenditure:


  • Collation of capex budgets and preparation of quarterly updates and annual capex presentations
  • Preparation and consolidation of the capital lookback expenditure for large projects
  • Insuring capital expenditure records for all businesses are up to date and centralised
  • Annual updating of the 5-year capital plans from all businesses


Key Requirements/Attributes:


  • Must have an accounting or corporate finance qualification (preferably Big 4 trained)
  • 1-2 years post qualification experience, ideally with some corporate finance or corporate banking experience 
  • Financial modelling experience would be an advantage
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated and dynamic – ability to work to deadlines and achieve targets in a time-conscious manner
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel. Experience with Access and MS Project would be an advantage.
  • Practical and common-sense approach to problem solving, and the ability to demonstrate creative solutions
