WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

 

The opportunity has arisen for an Interim Finance Director to join the team on a 9 month Fixed Term Contract due to maternity leave cover. The role will report directly to the Interim Finance Director, Global Ingredients and Head of M&A.

 

Ornua Ingredients Ireland (OII) is responsible for Cheese Procurement, Commercial sales and marketing, Management of Commodity Risk and Working Capital implications of physical stock for Ornua Coop and related UK subsidiaries, management of customer service supply chain operations, warehousing and logistics function for Ornua Coop and Ingredients Innovation function (Moorepark)

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

    • Act as finance business partner to the Managing Director (MD), contributing strongly to the overall management and strategic direction of the business
    • Become a strong member of the OII management team, contributing to the effective and efficient functioning of the organisation
    • Define and put in place Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to manage the business effectively and ensure the timely delivery of those KPIs.
    • Co-ordinate and manage the preparation of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with the Global MD / Executive
    • Co-ordinate and manage the preparation of OII Senior Leadership Team meetings and Townhalls
    • Define Finance support required by the senior management team and ensure the provision of this information on a timely basis (Commercial/Supply Chain/Procurement Business Partnering)
    • Process improvement within OII and with Evolve Programme Team (Evolve is Ornua’s business transformation programme)
    • Other ad hoc tasks as required.
    • Drive OII annual budget process in collaboration with Dublin Co-operative (Co-OP) Finance team
    • Manage preparation of detailed quarterly forecasts (3+9, 6+6 and 9+3) throughout the year
    • Drive preparation of P&Ls for 5 Year strategic plans
    • Provide monthly forward book forecasts for commercial decision-making.
    • Provide other ad hoc forecasting information as required.
    • Work with Co-op Finance to ensure timely delivery of periodic (weekly, monthly, etc) financial reports to measure performance vs budgets, targets, etc.
    • Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement and support in development and roll-out of relevant KPI’s to support more effective business reporting and performance management.
    • Preparation of monthly P&L and Balance Sheet commentary vs. Budget and forecast, with relevant detail and analysis.
    • Cost management: Work with Budget owners to monitor costs vs Budgets and to proactively manage the cost base of the business.
    • Provide and support the preparation of management pack for Sales Pricing Meeting (SPM) meeting.
    • Engage with and influence Sales and Operating Planning (S&OP) process to ensure balanced demand and supply planning to optimise working capital.
  • Support the Dublin Co-op Accounts Receivable Function on the timely collection of all overdues.
  • Monitor trading risks and work with the management team to minimise exposures to the business
  • Work with the Member Relations / Trading team to ensure margin protection through effective financial de-risking
  • Liaise with the Group internal audit function and external auditors as required.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
  • Experience operating in a business partnering role, working closely with non-Finance functions.
  • Commercially astute, with solid analytical skills.
  • Proven influencing, communication and interpersonal skills with capability to present data clearly to senior stakeholders (including Executive).
  • Ability to lead and drive change.
