The Group is structured across two divisions: Ornua Foods and Ornua Ingredients.

Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Kerrygold, Avantage, Forto, and BEO.  Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world.  Ornua Ingredients is also responsible for managing volatility through de-risking and trading strategies. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.

The Role


Due to our growth an exciting new position has arisen within the Group Insurance team. The Insurance team is responsible for ensuring that Ornua has the most appropriate insurance cover in place for its global operational and manufacturing activities.  The team oversee and manage all insurance related matters for the Group, with a view to appropriate risk mitigation, insurance placement, claims handling and promote a value-add approach to the provision of insurance services.  The Insurance Executive, under the direction of the Insurance Manager will initially be responsible for the administrative activities on the team and will act as a key point of contact for stakeholders seeking information on insurance matters for their business. They will also be responsible for documenting and formalising key processes and identifying opportunities for improvement. They will maintain a comprehensive understanding of the insurance market; available policy covers and emerging products which can be accessed by the Company as required. The position will offer the candidate the opportunity to gain exposure to all levels of the Ornua organisation.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


  • Together with the Insurance manager, ensure that the right insurance policies and cover are in place to meet Ornua’ s specific and evolving needs in each of our markets, across a range of areas including property damage & business interruption, stock, trade credit, cyber, marine, public & product liability, recall insurance and motor.
  • Provide support with the annual renewal of insurance policies by helping gather and compile all relevant exposure data and assist with completion of proposal forms required by insurers.
  • Assist with the assessment of various renewal options proposed by insurers  
  • Support the sourcing and procurement of new insurance policies, ensuring there is standardisation of cover across each business.
  • Provide support and assistance with managing all claims effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner from initial claim notification through to settlement and closure.
  • Review and update the register of insurance policies on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the issuing of all insurance certificates requested by customers suppliers and other third parties.
  • Ensure accurate recording and filing of all insurance-related paperwork such as claims and policies.
  • Assist with the management of property surveys and inspections and follow up and close out of any risk improvement recommendations.
  • Assist the Insurance team on all Ornua insurance captive related activities.
  • Manage administration for the team – e.g., purchase orders, invoice processing, expenses etc.
  • Work with the Insurance manager to formalise and document all insurance related processes, identifying opportunities to streamline and improve our ways of working.
  • Other projects and ad-hoc tasks as outlined from time to time.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Qualified or Part-Qualified Insurance professional (e.g.  Certificate in Insurance Practice).
  • Member of the Insurance Institute of Ireland or equivalent.
  • Experience working in commercial or broker environment.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent IT Skills, in particular Microsoft (e.g. Excel, Work and Powerpoint).
  • A flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Clear problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work well with diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • There will be a requirement for regular travel nationally and internationally.
