Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers. 

 

Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa. 

 

The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America. 

 

It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa. 

Job Summary

As a Technical Architect, you will be working in the Global IT Infrastructure Services team. developing, designing and implementing modern infrastructure and security solutions and working with other departments to integrate SaaS solutions into existing technologies.   

The successful candidate will work closely within Infrastructure, Security, Service Delivery and Application teams to ensure all solutions are aligned with Ornua’s strategy and architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver end-to-end solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to deeply understand functional and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable architectures.
  • Engage with implementation teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions, providing technical oversight and acting as an escalation point for complex issues or clarifications.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and upskilling to internal IT and support teams to ensure effective ongoing management of solutions.
  • Deliver 3rd-tier support and advanced troubleshooting for Azure-based and on-premises systems, optimising performance and reliability.

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience in a Technical Architect role.
  • Excellent knowledge in architecting, configuring, and deploying solutions across Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services.
  • Detailed knowledge of on-premises infrastructure components (Server, Storage, Network, Network Security, and Active Directory).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of identity, authentication, and enterprise application management with Entra ID.
  • Experience in drafting technical documentation and explaining technical problems and solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing service providers and other project stakeholders.
  • Proven commitment to continuous technical development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience architecting and implementing solutions within a global enterprise environment
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experienced in the design and delivery of enterprise level Highly Available solutions.
  • Understanding of project delivery and service delivery methodology.
  • Experience working on information security related projects.
  • Microsoft Azure certification and TOGAF would be an advantage.
