Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers.
Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.
It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for newly created role as an IT Audit Lead to join the team at an exciting time for the company. You will be an ambassador for the development of IT audit within Ornua by building your personal brand, collaborating with other internal teams, and presenting to Group Executives and the Audit Committee.
This role will help ensure internal controls are appropriately designed, operationally effective and are aligned with Ornua’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop the global IT audit strategy aligned with organisational objectives. From this develop an annual IT Audit plan and deliver all IT audit programs.
- Advise senior leadership on IT risk posture, emerging threats, and control effectiveness, and assisting with the remediation of control deficiencies.
- Oversee planning, execution, and reporting of IT audits across all regions.
- Ensure audits cover cybersecurity, information management, cloud infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives. Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Drive continuous improvement in IT controls and risk mitigation strategies.
- Present findings and recommendations to Audit Committee and Executive Leadership.
- Collaborate with on large Internal Audit projects with both the project and Data Analytics team.
- Collaborate with CIO, CISO, and other business leaders to strengthen IT governance.
- Complete ad hoc projects, audits, advisory projects, and investigations as they arise.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in information systems auditing, internal controls or compliance with a minimum of 2 years working in industry, or multinational manufacturing sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISM, or CISSP.
- Strong technical IT governance knowledge (COBIT, ITIL), cybersecurity standards (ISO 27001, NIST), IT security, operating systems, financial applications and cloud architecture (AWS, Azure).
- Good understanding of regulatory compliance (GDPR) and risk assessment methodologies.
- Track record of demonstrating an enterprise-wide and challenger mindset to drive progress and deliver on key projects.
- Ability to thrive in our co-operative environment where there is a strong emphasis on building strong stakeholder relationships within a nuanced, relationship-driven, internal structure.
- Strong report writing skills and ability to clearly communicate IT issues to non-IT personnel.
- Ability to research new technologies and identify associated controls and risks.
- Ability to identify control gaps with legacy systems and ensure appropriate mitigations are in place.
- Flexibility to travel as required to Ornua locations.
