COMPANY AND ROLE BACKGROUND
Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers.
Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.
It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
P&L
- Preparation of month end files for costs to market related information.
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs to market related information for weekly and monthly management accounts
- Preparation of detailed monthly analysis of cost to market P&L costs.
- Circulation of detailed analysis to key stakeholders within the business.
- Liaising with the Procurement Team on cost to market related items e.g. rates, agreements with warehouses etc.
Balance Sheet
- Preparation of support schedules for key accounts in the Balance Sheet e.g. accruals and provisions
- Preparation of month and year end files for review by Financial Controller
- Dealing with internal and external auditors on review of Balance Sheet accounts
Weekly & Monthly Accounts
- Sales and profitability reports on a weekly and monthly basis (vs. prior year and budget)
- Preparation of Weekly Volume & Flash P+L
- Sales performance analysis
- Full reconciliation and maintenance of detailed P&Ls by division
Other Areas of Responsibility
- Assist in all areas of budgeting, forecasting and preparation of strategic plans, including the coordination, completion, and maintenance of the budgeting model
Key Requirements/Attributes:
- Recently qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with Big 4 experience
- Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commercially astute with strong analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly motivated and dynamic – ability to work to deadlines and achieve targets in a time-conscious manner
- Good IT skills, particularly Excel
- Practical and common-sense approach to problem solving, and the ability to demonstrate creative solutions
- Experience with cost accounting, or monitoring and measuring sales performance is an advantage
