The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in-market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.
It also manages the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de-risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in-market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The Role
The Financial Planning & Analysis BP role is primarily responsible for co-ordinating and consolidating the budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting deliverables of the ODI function. In addition, it will play a lead and key role in delivery of value-added financial modelling and analysis for the ODI BU across multiple products and geographies.
By providing timely and accurate financial modelling and scenario planning, FP&A not only safeguards profitability but also empowers business leaders to make informed decisions, drive growth, and maintain competitive advantage in a dynamic market environment. They play critical role in guiding an organization’s strategic and operational decisions by translating complex financial data into actionable insights. Through budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, FP&A ensures that leadership has a clear understanding of current performance, future trends, and potential risks, enabling data-driven decision-making. This connection between financial understanding and commercial reality enables faster, better-informed decisions across Ornua and ODI.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Financial Reporting and Analysis
a. A core responsibility will be consolidating and producing management accounts and reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track performance multiple BU and segments across ODI.
b. Provide consistent and clear analysis of variances to budget and forecast which is grounded in solid data
c. Ensure clear concise reporting decks and packs are prepared in accordance with group reporting deadline
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
a. Work with the FD in leading the commercial teams and BU PL owners through budget & forecasting process ensuring alignment on key assumptions and PL Build / Shape
b. Ensure accurate and timely Flash preparation for all relevant PLs, Ensuring preparation and bridges flash to previous forecast(s) with analysis of key drivers
3. Scenario Planning, Analysis & Decision Support
a. Co-led with ODI FD various with scenario planning and modelling asks across ODI to help evaluate the financial impact of potential business decisions, supporting strategic planning and ensuring that financial targets are achievable and sustainable.
4. Business Partnering
a. Monthly review of PL with SLT and PL owners – ensure SLT deck is prepared to analyse performance and trends with salient commentary
b. Ensure Customer profitability reporting across BI is accurate and embedded in day-to-day decision making
5. Continuous Improvement initiatives
a. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the ODI financial reporting processes, as it relates to becoming more data lead and improving current WoW to becoming more automated . This will include being proactive in enhancing financial processes, automating reporting, improving forecasting accuracy, and developing financial models using tools like Excel, BI or AI.
6. Other
a. BS control & Risk Management – Work with Finance team and ODI FD in ensuring that appropriate financial control and governance is consistently applied to highest standard across all ODI reporting, including BS reporting
and adherence with Group policies
b. Provide relevant working capital reporting to SLT, Group and ODI FD on ODI w/cap position v Budget with clear analysis of drivers . Assist Commercial teams in management of working capital and delivery and over-achievement v targets
Key Skills / Attributes
Success in this role requires good stakeholder management skills, strong communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to present well-supported viewpoints. The candidate must combine excellent attention to detail with resilience, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. They will require very strong excel and modelling skills.
· Ideally 2 or more years or more experience in a commercial or finance business partnering role in a fast-paced commercial environment (ideally Food, or FMCG environment)
· Ideally the candidate would have demonstratable experience with financial modelling & forecasting — building robust models, scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and translating assumptions into clear outputs
· Excellent Data literacy — strong Excel skills, comfort with BI tools (Power BI), and ability to turn raw data into actionable insight
· High attention to detail is critical to this role with focus on ensuring accuracy at all reporting and consolidation points
· Demonstrated ability to build cross functional relationships & strong team player
