Role Summary

 

This position reports to the Business Intelligence Manager within the Office of Information, Communications, Technology (ICT).

 

The BI (Business Intelligence) Analyst/Developer has responsibility for supporting the design, development, governance and delivery of BI solutions using the Microsoft BI development suite encompassing SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, Dax and Azure DevOps. (S)he designs, builds, tests, deploys and supports business solutions that meet business and technical requirements and align with the Global BPD documents. (S)he will also provide support for planning and organising BI activities liaising with the ICT PMO function.

key areas of responsibility

 

Role Description:

  • Develop, unit test and support BI solutions in line with Ornua ICT standards, documentation and governance.
  • Liaise with the business workstream leads to understand fully the Report and Analytical requirements. Translate these into logical and physical data components.
  • Adopt best practice development methodologies and approach with focus on delivering efficiency, performance and quality BI solutions.
  • Provide user training on the Power BI and SSRS reporting platforms.
  • Record any issues, defects, new reports and enhancement requests using the Azure DevOps framework and maintain these up to date.
  • Work with the ICT PMO function to plan and coordinate BI project deliverables.
  • Input to BI deliverables and enhancement prioritization based on business engagement and training feedback and foster collaboration between business leads, business engagement, BPOs and BI team leads.
  • Ability to troubleshoot queries/issues that arise and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Develop excellent day-to-day working relationships with the ICT Global Application Support Team.
  • Support the existing development, test and production BI environments.
  • Regular monitoring of the BI ETL metadata & operational framework ensuring that the Live BI reporting platform is available to the business and kept refreshed in line with agreed refresh times.
  • Develop and grow a good knowledge base of documentation & materials to enhance and support the cross-coverage of development across the various workstreams.
  • Develop the self-service capabilities of our BI platform for Ornua business users.
  • Adopt and ensure good BI and data governance across the organisation.
  • Promote and adhere to master data management principles ensuring data integrity across the BI platform.
  • Understand business risks, issues and interdependencies and how these areas are addressed and/or mitigated by BI and communicate these with business stakeholders during training and knowledge share.

Key requirements

 

  • Minimum three years’ experience in similar BI analyst or data analytical role.
  • Experience with ERP finance applications would be a significant advantage.
  • Experience with Infor M3 and Movex ERP finance applications would be a distinct advantage.
  • Technical competence in Microsoft data analytical & BI tools namely SQL server (SS), SS Integration Services (SSIS), SS Reporting Services, Power BI service, Power BI desktop, Power BI gateway configuration, MS Visual Studio, MS Visual code, Github source control, Azure Dev Ops.
  • Experience with Power BI self-service capabilities and the front-end environment (workspaces, apps, analyse in excel).
  • Experience in development across a multi-environment platform and associated governance on deployment through the product lifecycle (Dev-Test-Production).
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL relationship database query language.
  • Good knowledge of ETL/ELT logical architectures.
  • Proficiency with Power BI DAX, M languages.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of the order to cash (O2C) and purchase to pay (P2P) technical modules and functionality.
  • Awareness of ERP modules & business processes and how they integrate across the various workstreams i.e., Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Sales and Finance would be an advantage.
  • Experience in the provision of training to key users in the Microsoft BI reporting suite.
  • Experience in the compilation and translation of business requirements into data components.
  • Experience in the documentation of solutions and handover requirements.
  • Experience in the planning and coordination of project activities.
  • High level of integrity, passion, self-motivation and analytical skills. Flexible attitude and willingness to travel.

  • Strong communication skills & ability to work to deadlines and deliver quality work.
  • Experience of working in a formal project management environment.
  • Languages: Fluency in English; secondary language is preferable but not required.
  • Technical or business bachelor or masters degree is a distinct advantage.
