The Role

 

The purpose of this role is to support the Avila site leadership team in the development, implementation and on- going provision of the sites safety management systems. The role will play an important part ensuring legal compliance and advancing the Ornua group to Health and safety excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operational colleagues, at all levels, to interpret and implement SHE legislative and regulatory requirements, group policies and safe working practices.
  • Be actively involved in reviewing and monitoring internal SHE policies, procedures and guidance ensuring that any updates required are highlighted for review and that relevant databases and policy documents are updated in accordance with the site document control process.
  • Work with site leadership teams of all levels to coach, encourage and support a positive and proactive SHE culture.
  • Supporting site leadership teams in ensuring adequate risk assessments, surveillance programs, incident investigations and monitoring arrangements are in place and maintained.
  • Monitor, communicate and report on SHE related Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the site, including any Ornua group requirements.
  • Stay abreast of any changes in SHE legislation and corporate developments that affect the business unit, making recommendations for improvements to members of the site leadership team.
  • Working with site leadership teams to enhance the existing training structures.
  • Organise and chair the sites Health and safety committee.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with external interested parties.
  • Coordinate, support and champion SHE improvement initiatives.
  • Organize and manage the sites audit schedule.
  • Participate in the divisional audit program. This will require travel to other local Ornua sites on a monthly basis.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance.

 

Key Skills / Attributes:

 

  • Bachelor level qualification in relevant degree (Engineering, Science or Business).

  •  Fluent in Spanish and English

  • Master on Health and Safety with 3 specialities (safety, hygiene, ergonomics-psycho-sociology).
  • +5 years experience on HSE departments.
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of current health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice together with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of risk reduction management systems (ISO or BS OHSAS).
  • Have a strong administrative background and be experienced in report writing, data analysis and database management.
  • The role would suit an individual with experience within a ‘fast- paced’ manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • IT- Essential that the individual be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong and effective communicator with the ability to engage and influence people at all levels of the business.
