The Role:

 

NPD Technologist role is responsible for the delivery of products and process development.

 

 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop new recipes in lab and pilot plant scale.
  • Attend and manage scale ups of recipes developed in the lab.
  • Support both the timely development of new product concepts and in addition work closely with the operational teams to optimize product performance.
  • Create testing methods if needed for new recipes.
  • Try products in the finished application.
  • Evaluate new suppliers and ingredients and report on their suitability
  • Support production on issues with existing or new recipes.
  • Manage NPD projects from start to finish, this involves generation of kitchen prototypes, pilot plant prototypes and scale ups in production.
  • Manage individual NPD projects for the business, including product & process development, generation and maintenance of product specs and effective communication within the business
  • Generation of concept samples as appropriate for market research/ product briefings, customer presentations
  • Support the commercial team in customer visits when needed. Assisting in customer presentations, conference calls, audits, visits, etc. where required.
  • Providing in-depth reports on the trials that accurately reflect the work carried out including all required measurements, comments and recommended actions and next steps detailing responsibility and agreed accountability.
  • Ensuring all required internal documentation is completed and provided to Production and Technical team.
  • Developing practical schedules for product launch and maintaining project plans and advising all stakeholders throughout the project on timings of achievable completion dates
  • Ensure traceability of the BRC documentation throughout the project, ensuring any changes to recipe or process are communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Trialing and assisting with the commissioning of new processing equipment either in support of a new product launch or to make improvements to current production processes.

 

Key requirements:

 

  • Degree in food Science, Nutrition, Chemical engineering
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • High level of self motivation and able to work autonomously.
  • IT literate with strong Word, Excel and database skills.
  • Driving licence
  • Flexibility and resilience.
  • Effective Communicator.
  • Working at high standards personally and professionally.
  • Passion for food, and culinary skills highly appreciated.
  • Analytical mind. Able to come to conclusions.
  • The ability to work well individually and integrate well with operations team.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and work well under pressure.
